International Sharing School Madeira: Increasing Local Enrolment

International Sharing School Madeira has begun the new academic year with strong momentum, welcoming more than 60 new students and continuing to strengthen its connection with the local community.

A notable trend is the increasing number of Madeiran families choosing international education. Today, over 40% of the school’s families are from Madeira, reflecting a significant rise compared to previous academic years.

Increasing Demand from the Local Community

In recent years, the school has seen consistent growth in student numbers, alongside a clear shift in demand from local families seeking a differentiated educational model.

Miguel Ladeira Santos, CEO of the Sharing Education Group, highlighted the importance of this development: It is extremely rewarding to see Madeiran families increasingly recognising the value of the distinctive education offered by our International Sharing School. Over the past year, we have made a strong effort to communicate the unique aspects of our educational model to the local community, which has resulted in a significant increase in local enrolment.

This growing interest reflects both the evolving expectations of families in Madeira and the school’s ability to respond with an innovative and internationally aligned offering.

Continued Investment in Educational Quality

Alongside student growth, the Sharing Education Group has continued to invest in the development of its academic team. Expanding and strengthening the teaching staff has been a key priority, ensuring that the quality of education evolves in line with the school’s growth. This investment is part of a broader commitment to continuously enhance the learning experience, with a strong emphasis on both academic excellence and the development of personal competencies.

A Holistic Approach to Student Development

The educational model at International Sharing School Madeira places equal importance on academic achievement and personal development. Central to this approach is a strong focus on wellbeing, supported by the school’s pastoral care programme.

This holistic perspective recognises students as individuals, supporting not only their academic progress but also their emotional, social, and personal growth. The aim is to prepare students to navigate an increasingly complex world with confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.

Strengthening Community and School Culture

The start of the academic year has been marked by a positive and dynamic atmosphere across the school community. Students have returned with enthusiasm, taking part in activities designed to foster collaboration and strengthen relationships, including team-building experiences outside the campus.

This strong sense of community continues to be a defining characteristic of the school, reinforcing connections between students, families, and staff.

Looking Ahead
The continued growth of International Sharing School Madeira reflects a broader shift in how education is perceived locally. As more families seek international, student-centred learning environments, the school is well positioned to meet this demand while maintaining its commitment to quality and innovation.
